HAND CRAFTED DORSET BUTTON or BROOCH (PIN)

This listing is for a 4.4cm (1.73") Dorset button. I made this by using various techniques of winding black cotton thread and grey silver thread around a brass ring and also includes shiny silver coloured beads and multicoloured variegated beads. I have added a thread shank on the back so that the button can be easily sewn onto clothing, hats, bags etc. Alternatively, by using a safety pin, it could be attached temporarily, maybe to add some sparkle to a plain top, dress or jacket.

The creation of Dorset buttons was originally a large cottage industry in Dorset, England between 1622 and 1850, after which they were overtaken by machine-made buttons.

I am happy to take custom orders for similar buttons in different colours.
