Full description

size 4.5cm

Hand-carved in clay and finished with oxide wash and glaze, this ceramic pendant is a charming piece of jewellery and a portable mini finger labyrinth.

This is a pocket-size meditation and calming tool that can be carried with you and used while you are waiting in a queue or to calm your child (or somebody else’s child).

A labyrinth pendant can be a great ‘green’ alternative to portable plastic sensory and fidget toys/tools.

Every labyrinth is lovingly created by hand using potters clay and finished with a pottery glaze at temperatures ranging from 1065°C up to as high as 1260°C, making the labyrinth water and wash-proof.

“Labyrinths, which are ancient patterns large enough to be walked or small enough to be traced with the finger, represent tools for cultivating mindful habits. Mindfulness is the contemplative practice of focusing attention on the present, non-judgmentally. By training the mind to remain fully present in each moment, the interior mental chatter that often plagues the mind becomes quiet, enhancing capacities or equanimity, clarity, and insight…Amid a culture that rewards speed and “busyness,” contemplative practice proposes a radical innovation for teaching and learning” Artress, L. (1995).

Designed by ieva Alksne and Michelle Holland in audley, staffordshire
