This quilt was inspired by the traditional 'log cabin' block, which has been used in traditional English and American quilts since the 1800s. I mixed cheerful plain pastels and the bright, wonderful prints of fabric designer Tula Pink to create a modern version of this much loved quilt design.
The end result was lots of delicious squares, so it made sense to bring them together in a square quilt!
As always, my crafting is inspired by traditional methods, helped along by the soothing rhythm of my Singer treadle machine.

Small, patchwork quilt - hand-quilted and made with happy pastels.
The perfect size for use as a picnic blanket, playmat, cot quilt, lap quilt or a little person's snuggly, this quilt is made with 100% cotton fabrics and hand quilted using Italian cotton pink thread. The lining (or wadding) is made with natural fibres - 50% soft, breathable cotton and 50% naturally anti-bacterial bamboo.
The quilt is made from individual pastel strips in plain and printed fabrics, which are sewn into a 'log cabin' square on my 1917 Singer Treadle sewing machine. Those squares are then joined and the wadding and backing fabric are added. The quilt is hand-quilted before the binding is finally added and hand-finished.
Dimensions: approx 43 x 43 inches (110 x 110cm)
Washable at 30 degrees. Do not tumble dry. Dry flat.
