Welcome to Janiemade and my little corner of Folksy where you can buy my crocheted creations. If you're looking for skilfully handmade gifts and home decor I hope you'll find something you love. I enjoy crocheting with natural fibres, mainly cotton, and many of my home decor items use recycled braided cotton cord or recycled cotton T shirt yarn. All items are ready to post and I only charge postage on your first item. Your order will be sent by Royal Mail 2nd class post.
Happy shopping, Jane :)
I have always collected a few shells when walking along a beach and I wanted to find a new way of displaying them to conjure up memories of happy holidays. This piece combines my love of shells with exploring shape and form in crochet.

Full description
Rectangular crochet artwork that can be hung on a wall or displayed on a shelf. I love experimenting with the possibilities of crochet and this is an example of how stitches can be shaped into spheres that resemble barnacles and spirals that resemble seaweed. The crocheted items were sewn carefully into place onto the sandy brown felt background. I then added some pretty seashells, attached with strong jewellery glue, before securing in the frame, chosen because it reminds me of driftwood. The wood effect frame has no glass so the tactile nature of the artwork may also be enjoyed (with clean hands of course!).
The actual artwork measures 9cm x 14cm. The frame measures 16.5cm x 21cm from edge to edge, with each side measuring 4cm across. The frame has a fold out strut on the back so can be displayed on a shelf or hung on a wall with the metal hook.
