i live in a beautiful semi-rural part of the country, and have increasingly found pleasure in being surrounded by nature and working outdoors. i’ve been filling my new garden with colourful inspiration over the past few years, so moving from embroidery back into drawing & painting has been a natural progression for me.
after attending local art classes this year, i've been immersed in new creative processes & techniques that have allowed me to explore, experiment and define this new direction, creating colourful, expressive, textural pieces based in nature.

exploring & experimenting with fresh creative processes, as well as the familiar layering and tactile qualities of embroidered work, have led to these colourful, expressive, textural pieces based in nature.
this is an original acrylic painting, measuring 8cm x 15cm, on acid-free canvas textured paper.
i’ve tried to capture the intensity of fresh spring foliage; hot pinks and astilbe contrasting bright acid greens or ferns and hosta. i’ve embellished the piece with hand stitching, using embroidery silks in co-ordinating colours.
the painting is presented simply within a hand cut A4 mountboard frame. It will be posted within further card and recycled bubble wrap, and will be sent via royal mails large letter tracked48 service.
