Inspiration for pictures comes in a variety of ways, sometimes its the colour of a piece of glass, sometimes its the shape of a pebble. In this case it was a combination of both, I saw an unusual shaped fragment of shell and immediately imagined a sail, then I remembered a piece of sea metal that I had found previously and together they became a sailing boat. After searching through my collection of rare sea glass pieces I found a beautiful piece of orange sea glass which was a perfect shape for a small bird to sit on top of the sail.

An original design sea glass, shell and sea metal picture made with shells. Sea metal and sea glass gathered from beaches in the North East of England.
Supplied in a grey wooden box frame with hanging hook. Frame size approx. 8 in x 6in (20cm x 15cm)
