Full description
This young lady is called Smilla, Scandinavian for Smile and she has been busy all day as an office junior with aspirations. As they say “you have to start somewhere”. Her bright red ringlets have to be kept in check by her slouch beanie on windy days but can be removed and so can her messanger bag which she wears cross-body.
I crocheted her in Schachenmayr Catania cotton from an Amigurumi pattern by CAROcreated, available on Ravelry.
The method of construction of this doll is such that the coat is put over the prepared body, the sleeves are put over the prepared arms and stitched to the body and therefore the coat isn’t removable. The feet, socks and legs are in one piece with removable shoes. I added a tab similar to the one in the last picture, so this doll will measure 15 1/2” high on her metal stand, ready to be put on display as an example of a truly hand-crafted doll which has taken many hours to complete.
