I have a passion for native Bumblebees and grow as many beneficial flowers that will give them both a source of nectar and pollen throughout the year.
This includes dandelions as it is an early source of nectar.
This little hanging was a response to the No Mow May campaign where we are encouraged to leave the lawn to grow longer which encourages native wild flowers to grow which in turn help our early pollinators.
This little hanging would make a great gift for a gardener or bee lover.

Full description
An original stained glass Bumblebee & Dandelion hanging for your window or porch.
This unique hand painted suncatcher is made from glass remnants that accumulate throughout the year in my workshop from other projects.
I use the shapes of the scrap glass to create one off pieces, by adding the 'missing piece' to fit the off cut I create a square or a rectangle just like a jigsaw.
Ideas for designs are dictated by the shape of the glass, plants & insects especially bees are prominent in my work.
I enjoy drawing and painting from observation, producing hand traced designs on glass.
Traditional stained glass techniques are used to paint the glass, pigment for the black outline and colour using silver stain and glass enamels, it is then fired in the kiln to make the design permanent.
Pieces can return to the kiln several times until the desired effect is achieved, this is a time honoured procedure.
Copper foil is the attached to the edges of the glass and tinned, this allows the pieces to be soldered together to create a whole piece.
Handmade copper wire hooks are added from which the piece can be hung.
Patina is applied to turn the soldered edges black, achieving the leaded glass appearance.
The piece is viewed from the front as the rear is opaque, light filters through the design when hung from a bright window. For indoor use.
The piece is approx 7cm x 5cm.
NB Wash hands after handling, contains Lead and Solder.
