This stunning, one of a kind, unique wood table lamp has a three tier base and vintage Victorian glass fishing float. I have hand crafted the base from laburnum wood formed into three octagonal tiers, then cast into green resin and turned to shape on my lathe. The vintage glass fishing float has a subtle green tint, and is illuminated by a (UK) mains powered LED candle lamp, and shines through the space between the wood pieces, showing off the green colour of the resin. Each of my lamps is a one-off design, and is truly unique - not another like it in the world.

This is another of the glass floats that were discovered half buried while I was weeding in the garden of Clairdale, our 300 year old crofters cottage on the island of Sanday, Orkney, and was used by the Victorian crofters that once lived here. This float carries the North Star symbol with "British Made" set around it, dating it's manufacture and use at between 1840 and 1910, making it between 110 and 180 years old. The glass floats were tied into the tops of fishing nets to keep them hanging vertically in the water, with stone weights attached to the bottom as ballast. Genuine vintage glass fishing floats carry all the chips, scuffs, scratches and patina you would expect from a hard life at sea, as this float has.

This decorative table lamp has a cork base to protect your table tops. This lamp is NOT designed for outdoor use. Approximately 260mm wide, 240mm high.
