Full description
This lovely hand crafted dark wood ballpoint pen is made in my studio on Orkney, using Cocobolo wood. These trees grow in central America but this wood was salvaged from a skip, and was formerly an old bed frame (it's amazing what folk throw away). The colour is typical of the species, the wood having a faint but distinctive purple under-tone to the very dark chocolate-brown colour, and has a very dense grain which is lovely to work with, finishing to a very smooth surface.
I have created this pen to have the widest part at the centre of each barrel, so keeping the balance of the pen to the centre.
The pen has a centre-mounted twist mechanism, gold plate finish to the metal tip, clip, centre band and top finial, and the two halves of the pen are rotated to propel and retract the writing nib. It uses a Cross refill, easily changed by pulling the two halves of the pen apart and unscrewing the refill, and best of all there are no little springs to lose.
The price includes post and packing.
