My Content Sitting Wire Cat is an original handmade mixed media artwork. The abstract cat is sculptured from silver and gold coloured wire, with more wire wrapped around for extra decoration and shine. For the wording just behind the cat, I have typed the word cat, repeating it by using all the different computer fonts beginning with c, just to add a different visual dimension. Over this is a layer of white tissue paper with silver speckles to add a bit of shimmer and to soften the wording. The cat is mounted on to brown wrapping paper which has been textured with white gouache and acrylic paint, then mounted on to white watercolour paper. The rug that the cat sits on is made from 3 different patterned papers. Some of the paper’s edges have been torn to emphasize the paper texture. I have handstitched on to the white water colour paper around the cat to add an extra bit of glitzy glamour, using metallic silver, gold and copper thread. To frame the artwork, it is then mounted on to a sheet of cat wording, black sugar paper and then white card. To show off the wire, I have kept the background to white tones. It also means my artwork will fit ‘purfectly’ into any home! It can be hung on the wall or can sit on a shelf, or on your fireplace like in my photos.

The wire cat measures 8.5cm at its widest part, by 13cm from the ears to the paws in height. The artwork is ready to be framed to fit into a 10 inch x 8inch (25 x 20 cm) frame without a mount.
