Full description
These red tube beads were exported to Africa from Europe between the 1880s and the 1920s and are becoming increasingly rare. They've been given the name tic tac toe. Their condition reflects the many miles they've travelled and the many hands that have held them throughout their history. Please don't expect them to look like new beads as they are certainly not, but apart from a little pitting on one or two, any damage is concentrated around the ends and only noticeable on close inspection. To my mind, it doesn't detract from the beauty of these fine old beads.
The ivory-coloured beads appear to have been carved by hand.
They have been threaded on top-grade jewellery wire from the USA along with some small black and red marl beads.
Size: It has an extender chain so can be worn from 16.5" to 18.5" A good length to wear with a tee-shirt.
Please take a look at my other unique pieces of African beaded jewellery.
