This handcrafted shaving stand was made from English Yew, a timber grown in south Devon to hold a razor and shaving brush. But be different than the majority of metal and plastic stands that are available online. This is a one piece hand-carved stand in English Yew a timber species I rarely work with, an interesting timber used for long bows in the middle ages and found in church yards still. This shaving brush and razor stand, it will take one razor. It is illustrated with a Wilkinson double edge razor and should take most modern wet shaving razors depending on their handle diameter. The top is carved to hold either the razor or shaving brush, in particular the matching brush SB 12.
All of the stand is coated in epoxy resin to stabilise the timber and protect it from water ingress, then finished with vegan friendly products. This item is number SS23 and this is stamped on the underside with my initials and date made (2023) as well. The images show razors and shaving brush that are not included, used for illustration only.

This shaving stand is made from organic, natural, solid wood and will distort if put near a heat source such as a radiator, it will also discolour if left in direct sunlight. The item you see here is the one you will receive and I have aimed to provide dimensions which are as accurate as possible. Please note that wood is a natural product.

The inspiration for this is taken from the shape of the log and the bark. That meant that I did as little as possible to show the amazing colours and contrasts. The copper rod enhances the colours from the yew tree. Therefore the shaping came as I worked with it and it gives a nice tactile feel to the curves echoing the shape of the trunk then epoxy resin was applied to hold the grain in place. I used a hand plane, files and sanding tools to sculpt the wood sympathetically to keep the shape that existed from its growth.
