Mother of Pearl is the name given to the lining or nacre of mollusc shells.
It is a unique combination of minerals secreted by molluscs such as oysters into thin platelets of calcium carbonate that have a width similar to light waves, which gives the nacre an iridescent, shimmering sheen.

Each of these pretty and unusual drop earrings features a 20x10mm Mother-of-Pearl bead in the shape of a lily.
The flower is a creamy white with the lovely sheen of Mother-of Pearl and a glossy, iridescent finish.
I have threaded a 4mm frosted red Carnelian bead into the centre of the flower and topped it with 4mm beads of frosted red Carnelian, a cream Mother-of-Pearl and a white Mother-of-Pearl bead.
The beads hang from a gold vermeil ear-wires.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with 18k gold, and the wires are stamped '925'.
These earrings measure approximately 1.35 inches (3.5cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
