Mother of Pearl is the name given to the lining or nacre of mollusc shells.
It is a unique combination of minerals secreted by molluscs such as oysters into thin platelets of calcium carbonate that have a width similar to light waves, which gives the nacre an iridescent, shimmering sheen.

Full description
Elegant necklace featuring as a centrepiece a 24x14mm lily flower carved from Mother-of-Pearl.
The lily has a lovely sheen and a high gloss, and has a carnelian bead in the centre.
The pendant hangs between 6mm beads of frosted carnelian and ivory Czech glass pearls.
The necklace graduates to 5mm ivory Czech glass pearls, and 4mm carnelian, red Jasper and mother of pearl.
Golden hematite beads add emphasis and shine.
The piece is finished with a Tibetan-style rose toggle clasp, which is nickel and lead free.
This necklace measures approximately 15.75 inches (40cm).
Presented in a pretty organza gift bag.
