Moss Agate is a variety of Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family.
It is generally included in the Agate family despite not being banded like most Agates.
Moss agate is a beautiful sage-green stone, translucent or milky, with inclusions of iron or manganese, that look like tendrils of lichen or moss, giving the green colour and the name.

Full description
Striking Moss Agate necklace in forest greens with the sparkle of crystals and shine of gold vermeil.
The centrepiece features five 12mm Moss Agate coins separated by 4mm 'olivine' Austrian crystal bicones, highlighted with 2mm gold vermeil beads.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with 18k gold.
The necklace then graduates from 8mm to 6mm and 4mm Moss Agate, brightened with a pair of Austrian crystals and more gold vermeil, before finishing with a rose toggle clasp.
The clasp is easy to fasten, has an antique gold finish and is nickel and lead free.
With its strange green swirls that resemble trapped tendrils of moss, it is no wonder that Moss Agate has become closely associated with Earth and Mother Nature.
These beads showcase a mix of all the attributes of Moss Agate, semi-translucent to semi-opaque, marbled appearance ranging in hue from light sage to deep forest green, and varying degrees of dendritic inclusions.
No two stones are the same, making this a truly unique piece of jewellery.
Moss Agate is believed to enhance tranquility and emotional balance.
Hand made in my home studio here in beautiful Devon in the UK, this would make a lovely gift for a birthday, anniversary, Mother's Day or as a treat for yourself.
This necklace measures approximately 17 inches (43cm).
