original floral textile art - free motion embroidered raw edge applique, with hand embroidered embellishments, in a 4" painted hoop.
translated from my original pencil drawing, this small emerging flower is free hand embroidered in soft buttery yellow cotton on to hand dyed grey cotton calico.
petals are embellished with hand embroidery.
this textile sketch is mounted in a 4" black painted bamboo hoop, and is signed & dated on the reverse, in freehand stitched text, on a coordinating bright yellow cotton.
i'm a traditional nerd: there's no computer wizardry here - this piece was sewn entirely on a domestic sewing machine from my hand drawn original pencil sketch.
the fabric is hand cut, layered and appliqued onto calico, before drawing the details on freehand, using free motion embroidery.
