Amethyst (purple quartz) is the birthstone for Aquarius and February, and the stone for the 6th and 17th wedding anniversaries.
It is thought to bring inner peace and tranquility, and promote emotional stability.
Amethyst is also associated with St Valentine.
It was believed he wore an amethyst ring engraved with a cupid to enable young soldiers to recognise him.
Emperor Claudius 11, believing married men made bad soldiers, had forbidden soldiers to wed, but Valentine would conduct secret marriage ceremonies.

These pretty purple Amethyst earrings each feature a 7x11mm Amethyst nugget topped with a 6mm frosted Amethyst bead and a trio of 4mm and 3mm Swarovski 'light amethyst' bicones.
The frosted Amethyst bead is highlighted with 2mm gold vermeil spacers.
The beads hand from gold vermeil ear-wires.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with 18k gold, and the wires are stamped '925'.
These drop earrings measure approximately 1.25 inches (3cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
