The mausoleum I used for this illustration was in one of the 'magnificent seven' great cemeteries of London. I photographed what is still one of my favourite monuments of all time but hadn't done anything with it until an author friend put forward his idea for a continuation of the Frankenstein story. It was a natural fit - I kept the forbidding lines and dark tones of the original tomb but adjusted the proportions to bring it in line with the story location and, of course, changed the name.

Full description
This gothic horror print shows my take on the Frankenstein family tomb, but why is the door open....? Taken from my original charcoal pencil illustration.
One of 24 original artworks for Tales in Sombre Tones, a beautiful illustrated anthology of gothic horror created in collaboration with author Sean Walter, available separately.
Please note - I have these printed to order so shipping time is a little longer than my normal turnaround - my studio is really small and I just can't fit Everything in at once :)
The print is framed ready to hang in a smart black frame made using mdf - an eco friendly alternative to wood created using leftover sawdust, and acrylic safety glazing. Print area size 12" wide by 18" high, frame size 16" x 22".
