I like to try using different fibres, seeing how they take dye, how they feel, how they spin. Blending in some banana fibre with pure wool gave a little lustre I wasn't expecting.

'Green Bananas' Rolags - minimum 100g

The colourway for this blend is just because I like greens - all shades, especially as we are eagerly approaching spring. There isn't much of a resemblance to bananas, but there is banana fibre in the blend.

The fibre base is a mixture of all natural fibre (78%) and banana fibre (22%). so if you haven't spun with it before it is unexpectedly smooth. I thought it would lend itself well to spinning from rolags.

The banana fibre is hand dyed with professional acid dyes, not nearly as scary as it sounds, the acid is vinegar, and hand blended on a board with other natural fibre (quite a bit of merino but there is a real mixture in there) before being taken off in easy to spin rolags.

I love using rolags for my spinning as it lowers preparation time and makes the fibre very manageable and portable.
