Upcycled/repurposed steampunk and industrial themed lighting. All with economical mains voltage LED lamps to help with your bill and save the planet!
I welcome custom orders and commissions so if you have something you would like making, repurposing or restoring, get in touch and let’s talk about what we could achieve.
This Bakelite telephone from the 1950s was just an unusable curiosity. I think I have transformed it into something attractive, interesting and useful in the modern world, sure to light up your space and start many conversations - just as a telephone should.

Full description
A decorative statement for your home or office, a table lamp made from an upcycled Bakelite 1950s Ericsson magneto telephone.
The Bakelite is in good condition, a few light scratches and a repaired crack on the handset. I have removed the microphone and speaker from the handset and milled out space to fit two GU4 lampholders with 12-volt, 1.8-Watt LED bulbs. As these are LED, they do not get too hot so are very suitable for this application. The 230 to 12-volt transformer is housed in the base of the phone, which has a safety earthed metal chassis. A 230v rated switch has been fitted to the cradle so the lamp switches on when the handset is lifted and off when it is replaced. The magneto has been wired to the phone’s bell so that it rings when the handle is turned.
The flex is new, period look, black braided, both from the plug to the base, about 2m, and from the base to the handset, about 1m. I have made a stand from salvaged timber and stainless steel to hold the handset up at an angle when the lamp is in use.
