Full description
A soft green-brown yarn created from the stinging nettles that grow indiscriminately around the Muddy House garden and surrounding fields.
Nettle is a native European plant that has been used for centuries in traditional medicine, food and as a raw material for making cord and as a dye.
This mercerised cotton is strong, smooth and gleams with a lovely lustre. Unlike soft cottons this yarn has a sheen and slightly corded appearance, meaning it will give great stitch definition and drape to a whole host of textile projects. It can be knitted or crocheted by hand or used with a standard gauge knitting machine. If used in woven items it will create a medium weight fabric with a good drape and it is strong enough for both warp and weft.
Suitable for: Crochet, Knitting, Weaving, Tapestry Weaving, Embroidery
Care Instructions
Fibres dyed with natural dyes should be washed in a pH neutral detergent. Bright sunlight should be avoided and if washing your products are dried outside, make sure that they are in the shade.
Our dyed yarn and fabric have been prepared carefully, going through many steps and finally having a thorough final rinse. However, there may be some excess dye residue when washed. Washing by hand will prolong the life of the colour but if you would like to machine wash please use a delicate, cool wash and rinse.
