My business makes me very happy.

I love picking the wildflowers I use in the cyanotype prints.

Creating those prints is magical, messy and fun … I never quite know how they’ll turn out, (because there’s alchemy involved and who doesn’t feel happy when they’re making magic?!)

Binding the books together with Coptic stitching, is such a restful and mindful activity that, yes, it does make me very happy!

When I am creating my cyanotype prints, I like to use lovely paper. It’s important to me to not only use paper that is aesthetically pleasing to me, but also that is either handmade, eco-friendly, sustainably sourced, or fair-traded. In an ideal world it will tick all of these boxes!

I used Nepalese Lokta paper on the inner covers, in a lovely Airmail blue.

The paper for the pages is recycled from used coffee cups.

Earth-friendly all the way!

Full description

This unique, hand bound photograph album would be the perfect Engagement or Wedding gift.

Such a wonderful way to treasure the happy couple’s memory of their special day.

The covers for this one-of-a-kind hand-crafted album are original cyanotype prints. Cyanotype printing is an incredibly Earth-friendly artform because the prints are developed by the sun’s UV rays.

I used Hahnemühle Bugra-Bütten Coloured Drawing Paper in lovely soft Cream White; it has a lovely texture which works so well for cyanotype printing.

The wildflowers for the prints are Ox-eye daisies and wild Mallows, gathered from the hedgerows near my beautiful Wiltshire home.

I added some extra ingredients during the development phase … coarse sea salt to give a lovely crystalising effect; some vinegar, which changes the tones of the blues subtly; some rose cyclamen pink ink; and some gold ink, to add a dash of bling.

The pages are 100% recycled white card at 220gsm weight, which is perfect for photographs as well as for sketching.

The book is bound with Coptic stitching, using teal coloured, waxed Irish linen thread, which is not only attractive, but also incredibly strong. Coptic binding also means that the book lies completely flat when opened.
