My name is Lizzie and I'm the woman behind Redheadwondering Hand Bound Books.
I got into bookbinding for two main reasons:
One, I love to create beautiful things.
And two, I am an avid journal keeper!
(Three, if you count the fact that I'm a total stationery addict!)
I have been journaling for over 25 years, trying to write every day, so you can imagine how many notebooks I have gotten through!
So being able to create my own books is a win-win for me.
Now I create beautiful journals for you, each one features original Cyanotype artwork on the covers, so each is completely unique.
Cyanotype Printing is such a wonderfully Eco-friendly artform.
The subjects for my artwork are wildflowers or flowers from my garden, which Nature produces for me in abundance!
And I use the sun to develop the prints … as an energy source, you can’t get more sustainable than that!
The prints feature Wiltshire wildflowers, gathered from the hedgerows around my lovely home.
The books are stitched together with Irish Linen waxed thread. This is the best kind of thread to use for bookbinding, I find, because it doesn’t stretch. This means that the book stays firmly bound, no matter how often you open and close it … I know this for a fact … I use my journal every single day!
I used Coptic stitching to bind the book together. Coptic binding means that the book will lie completely flat when opened, which makes it perfect for journaling or sketching.

Spent ages looking for the perfect card for my Mum's birthday.
