Full description
I spotted some beautiful fabric at a local antiques market a few weeks back. They turn out to be a pair of 50's/60's curtains.
The curtain tape channel at the top of them got me thinking, I can use it to make something with a drawstring feature.
I have upcycled these gorgeous curtains in a summery yellow with a floral basket motif, in to a glorious and feminine summer dress.
I don't like to make things to a specific size so I have made it adjustable with the drawstring feature.
Measurements are-
Circumference of dress 42" or 107cm
pocket 5x4" or 12x10cm
Length from gathered channel 47" or 109cm
The strap cord is over a metre long so you can adjust the gathers in the channels until it fits well.
I have added a blue denim pocket to compliment the blue in the dress, a pocket is always a handy thing to have, for a tissue or your phone. Also you will receive a thin belt made from the same fabric if you don't want to wear it loose.
I'm not sure what fabric it is, definitely man made, it moves like a modern day viscose. The curtain tape look like its a type of cotton.
Due to the age of the fabric I did not want to wash it in the machine so it has been hand washed in warm water and mild detergent.
A gorgeous one of a kind dress which is environment friendly, ideal for summer.
