we love being in the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside, we collect foliage on our dog walks or from our own gardens, to be able to capture the countryside in a permanent way is fantastic. we take such care when hand pressing th foliage and adding the colour to the imprint to permanently memorialise our finds.

Full description

Peace and Quiet- Hand made ceramic coaster. Hand pressed, glazed and fired twice, cork backed.

Featuring words pressed into the clay using vintage letter stamps, a bird stamp and pressed with hedgerow cow parsley and grasses

Details

Handmade unique ceramic coaster made from stoneware clay, fired to 1240 degrees c.

After kneading the clay to remove any air bubbles, each item is made by rolling out the clay and decorated by hand, with foliage from our own garden or foraged from the local Lincolnshire countryside. The foliage is hand pressed in the clay to create an impression. I use vintage stampers to create the lettering detail. They are then bisque fired in the kiln to 1000 degrees c

The coasters are then glazed with glazes and underglazes, carefully painting each area with a different coloured glaze, carefully wiping back lettering and foliage detail before adding a top coat of glaze. I then fire the work again to 1240 deg c. making them suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

Opening the kiln door is so exciting, I love to see the fired work, each one unique. I then finish off each coaster with a cork backing.

Postage is via Royal Mail, signed for 2nd class. For 1st class please message us
