I designed this as a winter variation of my Rainbow Summer Solstice to celebrate the official start of winter. I've tried to use colours which represent the chill of winter snow and frost

My fused glass dichroic nuggets, made in my glass fusing kiln, are great fun to make but the dichroic glass I use is very expensive. I guard it like gold dust. I love opening the kiln when the fusing is complete as I never know quite what I will have made.

Full description

This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.

I designed this one to celebrate the start of winter as I made the first on the Winter Solstice Day 2013,

I've used colours of winter - blue in all different shades to the same design as my Summer and Autumn Solstice suncatchers.

At the centre is a 4cm chandelier crystal, ultra shiny. I usually use a glass nugget made in my glass kiln but didn't have the right size so decided to experiment with a crystal. These will be limited edition as my supply of cystrals this size is Very limited.

The crystal is is set inside a 16 segmented circle. I've used all different glasses for these, textured, steaky and iridescent. It has lots of movement and interest.

The circle is framed for strength and neatness with twisted wire.

This is 13cms in diameter and hangs from a little silvery chain which is securely attached to the top of the suncatcher.

it is would make a wonderfully bright addition to any room.

It is totally individual and I am really pleased with it. It looks equally good on the wall as in the window.

I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece to ensure they are unique.

The last photo shows 7 different variations of my colourwheel.
