“The life-sized Seated Labrador sculpture is based on Harris, who was nearing the end of his life when I was approached for the commission. It was a shame not to have met him – he was clearly a very lovely dog. I enjoyed the alert pose chosen by the owners, with his handsome bearing and his soft eyes. It’s always sad sculpting a dog under these circumstances, and they’re all too common. But I hope Harris’ family will enjoy his memory, through all the photos they have of him, and through his memorial sculpture too.”
