I have always been interested in words, in fact I would go so far as to say I love words! There is a name for it. It is called being a Logophile.
How amazing is it that we have so many words to describe so many wondrous things?
When I was younger if I had run out of books to read at night I would read a dictionary, anything to get out of going to sleep! But this is where my love of words came from.
By the time I was 11 I had discovered collective nouns.
Collective nouns have almost been forgotten but children love to hear about these quirky groups and with the use of the internet it’s now much easier to find out about them.
Here are a few of my favourites;
A parliament of owls
A quiver of arrows
A caravan of camels (alliteration too!)
A gaggle of geese
A battery of tests
A mob of kangaroos
A school of fish
So this is where the idea of my book started, it is a play on words. I hope you enjoy my book! Just drop me a note if you would like me to personalise it.
