I have taken the last few months off from woodturning to concentrate on my botanical water colour work a few examples of which you can view on my Instagram account. However, I have picked up the chisels again and will be adding new items and old favourites. Apart from exceptionally large pieces my items are delivered free of charge by Royal Mail, second class.
I took my inspiration for this piece from Korean moon jars. These ceramic jars were given a milky glaze and were often used for ritual, votive purposes. The style orginated during the Joseon Dynasty (1392- 1910) and the name is derived from the voluminous shape and the glaze.

A decorative jar turned in Ash, a native hardwood. It has a hollow construction and one could be forgiven into wondering whether it is stone or wood. The finish is simulated stone that has then been given a matt lacquer to improve durability.
Approximate dimensions: H 210mm x D 200mm
This unusual piece was recently on display at an exhibition for Rugby Artist & Makers at the Floor One, Rugby Art gallery.
