An original drip painting of a yellow sunflower against a blue background.
This is one of my early paintings that I haven't had for sale for a long time as it's a completely different style to my current work, but I decided to give it a chance of a new home for Seconds Sunday. It was likely painted around January 2007 (the first photo I've got of it) but unfortunately it's from before I started dating my work so I don't know the exact month.
The canvas is 40cm x 50cm (16" x 20") with thin 1.6cm edges. The canvas is side stapled and these are visible, although the edges have all been painted with the blue background colour, so they don't stand out too much, Please be aware that this is a lower quality canvas than I currently use, so close up from the right angle, pin prick spots can be seen in the canvas, but this isn't usually noticeable once on the wall. The canvas has a wire attached to the back so it's ready to hang.
The canvas is painted in acrylics, with a slightly mottled blue for the background, and the flower painted by dripping liquid paint straight from the bottle onto the canvas, which makes the sunflower raised. Some areas are a little messier than I'd be happy with now, and I've tried to highlight all imperfections in the photos.
