So these mugs started out as a vase idea. I liked the idea of using contrasting white porcelain clay against the green of the skin. They then developed into this three toed version with a handle. It takes a lot of patience to make all the scales. So even thought they look deceptively simple a lot of time goes into making one of these.

These dragon feet mugs have proved very popular and created much interest. Fired to stoneware with an oribe (green) glaze which allows the patterning on the surface to come through. I have had two mugs to use at home as an experiment to see how resilient the claws are to being damaged. I have altered the shape of the claws over time, the original ones were really pointy, but the current ones are quite durable. The claws are made out of porcelain.
