Full description
A quirky wind chime made from upcycled vintage cutlery hand stamped with sound advice: WHEN SH-T HAPPENS... 1. breathe deeply, 2. say a rude word, & 3. make a cup of tea. Works for me. (If you have your own tips I'll gladly make you a custom order with your own wording.)
The messages are handstamped into four vintage teaspoons. I've carefully wired them all to stainless steel chains that dangle from a fretwork napkin ring.
The lettering is coloured black with acrylic paint (the paint is non-toxic but even so I don't recommend removing the spoons and using them in your actual tea, just in case) and the chime is approximately 28cm long, including hanging ring and swivel (the part from the ring to the spoons is approximately 18cm). You can hang this outdoors and it'll be fine, the chain and rings won't rust although the vintage components may tarnish in interesting and unpredictable ways and the paint may fade.
Please note these are vintage flatware items so they are not all perfect and shiny. Their bumps, dings, scratches and worn plating all testify to the long existence they've already had. Who knows how many cups they've stirred and how many hands have washed them up over the years? And now they have a new lease of life in retirement, encouraging you along when times are tough. Because right now, times are tough...
The chime tinkles prettily in the breeze and would make an ideal gift for a housewarming, wedding or anniversary.
