I love embroidering snails, their shells are such a variation of colour and a bit of a challenge.
The inspiration for the keyrings was to use all those lovely tiny scraps of fabric I can’t bear to throw away and it’s a real challenge to work on small hand embroidery.
The snail has been hand embroidered onto an oddment from a lilac tweed wool skirt and is backed in a contrasting cotton patterned fabric.
As I source fabrics wherever and whenever I see them I’m not always certain of exact fibre content.
The split ring is made from surgical steel and is joined to the keyring with a brown grosgrain ribbon.
Size: 4 by 4.5 cm.
