I am a keen metal detectorist as well as a stone carver and love getting the effect of the 'coin in the clod' in this collection. It's quite a challenge to get the depth and the effect of the coin still being in the ground and make the coin itself clear. But great fun to make!

Full description
A Saxon penny 'coin in the clod' carved out of a rough piece of weathered stone. Ideal gift for a metal detectorist. Price includes delivery of this bulky item. See size details below.
This unique, one off piece of art, is hand carved using traditional methods with hammer and chisel. It is made from a reclaimed piece of stone from a local quarry which is dark and weathered around the edges. I love the definition of the carved coin against the rough background and the effect of the partly revealed coin still in the ground.
This can be displayed outside or incorporated into a wall or garden feature etc. Alternatively some buyers have made an inside display around a fire place, office or conservatory.
