The majority of my work involves using the malleability of the glass enamel to decorate the copper blanks I use. The results are wholly unpredictable. Sooner or later the enamel will cool to a point at which I can no longer manipulate it, leaving me with a pattern of swirls and textures determined by the material. The butterfly shape lends itself particularly to this technique. The final result is a compromise between my aspirations and the impracticability of reworking the piece. Few pieces are lost entirely. There are many more possibilities lurking in the kiln.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
After building up several layers of clear enamel on the copper shape, I have added a layer of yellow. After firing that I have added rods of blue-green red, and brown enamel and drawn through them when the piece was at red hot, in the kiln.
The butterfly measures 48mm from tip to tip of its upper wings, 28mm from the tip of the upper wings to the tip of the lower pair. I have soldered a 26mm brooch bar to the reverse of the butterfly. The brooch pin secures with a rotating catch.
Your butterfly will be sent, boxed as shown, by Royal Mail first class, tracked, at no extra cost.
