Wrong Side of Sol presents the art of crochet - beautiful crochet with vibrant colour combinations and eye-catching design. All my artworks are unique.
The first piece I ever crocheted was a blanket in the above colours and I've been looking forward to recreating an art piece replicating this colour scheme. I love the tight stitch of the double crochet and the form of the concentric squares worked in rows of twos. The interjection of Magenta is subjective rather than purely optical, however, the viewer will bring to this what their own histories have informed.
I also love to sew my handwriting onto my work which adds a unique and interpersonal touch. It seemed appropriate that Magenta should interrupt this also, and fittingly, the word agent was present.
Wrong Side of Sol aims to create items that entice the eye to look closer which this piece achieves with its beautiful colours.

Full description
Magenta Interrupts sees the combining of my favourite colours, Petrol Blue, Ochre and the Magenta of the title. The concentric squares comprise two crocheted rows of each colour, the blue and yellow alternating, with the interruption of magenta in the middle.
Worked in rounds, the piece contains 22 rows of tightly stitched double crochet and is approx. 15.5cm squared. The title is hand sewn beneath, with the word 'agent' highlighted amongst the spelling of 'Magenta'.
The crochet is mounted on foam board for depth, creating a float effect. This is then secured to the backing card with PH7-70 self-adhesive hinging tape by means of a T-hinge (these details are shown in the photos).
Presented in a standard white box frame measuring 34x34cms and approx 5cms deep with hook for wall hanging.
