Hello there!
My name's Abby and I'm a self-taught crochet artist, art history enthusiast and big lover of colour! I enjoy making objects that are bright and beautiful and always have an eye out for new inspirations.
With a background in art history, my artworks are influenced by 20th century movements: op and pop art, minimalism, colour field painting and abstraction. The name of my shop makes reference to conceptual artist Sol LeWitt whose work I admire. And there is a 'right' and a 'wrong' side of a crochet piece which is determined by which side of the stitch you can see.
My artistic influences are Brit artist Bridget Riley, and US artists Kenneth Noland and Frank Stella. I love the work of US fibre artist, Sheila Hicks, who takes textile art to a sculptural level with awesome textures. And Yayoi Kusama, a Japanese installation and print artist, whose use of colour is just out of this world!
