Scottish history fascinates me, and the blackhouse is one of the best examples of a building restricted to using whatever materials were at hand.

Extensively researched this polymer clay model is built up around a shaped wooden box with removable lid forming the basis of the roof.
The purpose built house was not unique to scotland, but this very rudimentary design had become famous as The Blackhouse
The diorama surrounded hints at the number of ways the inhabitants eked out a living.
