Formerly 'Buttons, Beads and Blanket Stitch'.
My work predominantly comprises hand cut and burnished lino prints, with sewing playing an occasional part.
Whether working in print or in stitch, I am inspired by the natural world and the people around me, with words/text frequently playing an integral part.

Wanting to further emphasise the lush verdant foliage of these tulips, each of this limited edition of just 7 prints features an additional base layer of a light fresh green, swept across the paper with an inked up roller.

Full description
With sketches made and text and final layout decided upon, I transferred my design onto a traditional hessian backed lino which I then hand cut. Once dry, the irregular base ‘sweeps’ of light green were over printed, first with a dark green to emphasise the leaves and then the main image details in black.
The paper is a beautiful Japanese Hosho, measuring approx. 21.5cm x 31.5cm with the black printed image itself measuring approx. 20cm x 30cm.
Each of this limited edition is numbered, titled and signed. Having been printed by hand, slight variations from print to print will always occur; such is the beauty of a unique, hand-crafted piece. In addition, each print of this limited, variable edition differs in terms of the amount and placement of the green sweeps, the alignment of the green and black layers and finally in overall paper size.
Your print will be posted to you wrapped in tissue and rolled within a cardboard tube. On its arrival, remove the print from the tube and allow it time to unfurl. (Lying the print on a flat surface under a heavy book may help to speed up the flattening process – do not be tempted to roll the print in the opposite way as this will almost certainly result in creasing and possibly damaging the print).
