Pomegranate seeds play an intrinsic role in one of my favourite myths that provide an explanation for the change of the seasons.
After Persephone is tricked into eating 6 pomegranate seeds she must spend half of the year in the underworld with Hades. Only when she re-emerges will her mother Demeter, the goddess of Spring, allow plants to flower and fruit once more.

Full description
A linocut of pomegranates in a botanical illustration style, printed onto handmade paper.
This print is made using traditional linocut techniques, in this case a method called a 'jigsaw lino'.
In this process the various colour components are carved into the lino block as usual before being cut apart with a scalpel. After inking, the pieces are put back together before being printed, hence the name 'jigsaw'.
Due to the handmade nature of this technique each print will have slight differences, making each one a unique work of art.
This print is 21cm x 14.8cm. It is delivered unframed but in protective packaging.
