I love to create one-off pieces that reflect the inherent qualities of the clay itself, and to form and decorate using the minimum of tools, so that the finished piece can reflect the material and the maker. I believe that hand-made should be literally what it says and that fingermarks are all part of the fun!

Full description
This handmade small vase with two handles and a mid century modern abstract motif is a lovely addition to your living space or kitchen. The vase (called Beatrice) can hold a bunch of fresh herbs in your kitchen, create a focal point for a single small bloom, or a spray of cheery buttercups in your bathroom. The outside of the vase is matt black natural clay finish, which I decorate with an abstract design before firing. The motifs, in pale blue, lemon, and yellow ochre is a one off original design, inspired by abstract art and textiles of the 20th century. Inside is gloss glazed with rust-red and blue highlights. Underneath you’ll find my potter’s mark of a swallow. 11 cms high and 5 cms diameter. One of the images shows Beatrice with a smaller pal, Betsy and they make a pretty pair!
