My teacher Thich Nhat Hanh passed away this year, and I've always loved illustrating his words as a means of combining mindfulness and creativity.
At the moment I have a slight obsession with pebbles!
I'm exploring them as part of an Instagram challenge called Coloricombo.
This is my loose interpretation of a pebbly path with each word written on to a pebble.
I begin by painting and texturing the paper (watercolour) then cutting out each pebble and each letter individually, arranging and gluing it onto the handmade backing paper.
I like the effect of the path extending beyond the paper.
The colour prompts for the letters are airforce blue, vermillion, acid yellow and burnt orange. Although I enjoy colourful pieces you can perhaps tell that my choices veer towards blues and greens. :)
