Nature is my inspiration, and this time it's loose paintings of wheat or grasses.
This painting began life as an Instagram challenge, to use only 2 colours, Mushroom and Indigo. My first attempt was too pale so I had another go making the colours brighter and darker, and I'm much more pleased with the result.
I feel these two colours work well together. Indigo is a favourite of mine so it's good to pair it with something different (for me!).
For this piece I painted the backing paper first and sewed the individual grass heads on top with indigo thread.
The final touch is sewing a simple border in the same indigo thread.
I like to work big and then perhaps cut or chop up my work to create a few smaller pieces, as happened here. This became a series of six.

This original artwork measures 11 x 15cm, postcard sized.
This listing is for one unmounted, original piece of artwork.
It comes wrapped in a cello bag for protection (or can be sent without if you prefer, please let me know in the comments when ordering), and will be posted securely wrapped with card and recycled packaging for protection. If you can reuse the packaging please do :)
