I have been experimenting with marbling fabric. I love the results and decided to add texture and more interest to this piece by hand embroidery in metallic threads.

Full description
A bookmark of hand embroidered marbled fabric - each one unique.
A piece of cotton fabric was marbled in shades of blue and yellow - resulting in the addition of a lovely blend of greens. A portion of the fabric was selected for this bookmark. The swirly pattern has been enhanced by simple hand embroidery - using a space dyed cotton perle in shades of blue and green, together with metallic threads in shades odf green blue and gold. The stitching gives textural interest.
The bookmark is completed with ribbon tails in grass green checks and the back is neatened by a layer of commercial felt.
Length of marbled panel: 14 cm approx
Total length, including ribbon tails: 21 cm approx
