The Charlie Miller, Dusty Miller fishing fly greetings card is an abstract of two popular salmon flies used in the Scottish Borders and by fishers in the west and north-west of Ireland.
Charlie Miller fishing fly (left). The original salmon fly was tied very recently by fly tyer Simon Easthope for Charlie Miller of Juniper Bank at Walkerburn in the Scottish Borders. The pattern is now a much sought after collector item.
Dusty Miller fishing fly (right) tied by Barry Grewcock of Brora in the Scottish Highlands. The Dusty Miller is a classic fishing fly dating from the early 1800s. Its colouring is normally quite subdued and although it may be thought of as nondescript out of the water, it comes into its own once at work. The Dusty Miller is particularly popular on the loughs of the west and north-west Ireland.
Each card is designed so that it can be cut in half after use and repurposed as a framed print if that's what your recipient wants to do with it.
