I rediscovered the red rose beads from my childhood necklace. Red roses are reputedly romantic, which prompted me to cut heart-shaped buttons.

Full description
These heart-shaped buttons were handcrafted and fired in my small home studio. The pattern on the clay was created by rolling a rose bead from a childhood necklace over the surface. A red underglaze was used to highlight the pattern before finishing with a transparent glaze. As each individual button is handcrafted, no two buttons will be exactly the same.
The buttons measure approximately 24mm long by 20mm wide (max width and are roughly 3-4mm thick.
The buttons are bisque fired before being decorated and glazed. They are then fired a second time to stoneware temperature, which gives them great strength and allows them to be machine washed. The sides and backs are not glazed, leaving them with a natural ceramic finish.
