Welcome to my shop! Let me know if you have any questions or are interested in a custom item. I work full time during the week and often work nights and weekends - purchases will be shipped as soon as possible following your order but if there is any delay I will let you know via email. Where possible I will always try to use recycled packaging, which may include reused boxes or packaging parcels. Happy purchasing!
As I work on the wood I find that the grain and shape of the beech gives me an idea of what shape the wood wants to end up as. I try to follow this and keep the design ergonomic yet simple.
First I ensure the beech is flat using a hand plane - an old WWII era Stanley No 4. Then I rough out the shape using a jigsaw. I refine this with a hand file before drilling the hole in the handle. I then go round the edges with a roundover bit in my palm router before hand-sanding the whole board and then oiling it over the course of a week.

This is a handmade chopping board (or alternatively, decorative serving platter) made from stunning beech wood. Naturally antibacterial, beech is a classic choice for kitchen items such as rolling pins, chopping boards and wooden spoons. This is completely made from scratch by myself using small power tools and hand tools, with the design simply coming as I work on the wood.
It is 20mm thick, approximately 18cm wide and 41cm long including the ergonomic handle complete with hanging hole. All crafted from a single piece of high quality beech and finished with 3 coats of pure tung oil to give a subtle sheen but also protect the wood.
This would make a lovely gift and a great addition to a kitchen. It can be used as a traditional chopping board or to serve cheeses or cold meats in a rustic and interesting way.
Care instructions: do not submerge, do not put in dishwasher. Do not allow to stay wet. Wipe with slightly damp cloth if required. If needed, apply food-safe oil such as a light cooking or mineral oil.
Note - due to the grain of the wood and the nature of woodturning, each piece may have minor imperfections. I like to think of this as "character" and it means each item is unique!
