I love the woodblock prints of Utagawa Hiroshige and have always been captivated by his print 'Suido Bridge and Surugadai' which depicts a carp streamer or 'Koinobori' which are flown in Japan to celebrate Children's day (Boy's day back in 1857) which occurs on 5th May every year.
I can't claim to be anywhere near that standard of print making but the carp in my print is a nod to that particular flying fish.
This limited edition run of 6 prints was made on specially commissioned marbled paper - created by fellow Folksy artist - The Whimsical Marbler. This means that each of the six prints is completely unique.
