I have taken the last few months off from woodturning to concentrate on my botanical water colour work a few examples of which you can view on my Instagram account. However, I have picked up the chisels again and will be adding new items and old favourites. The latest additions are two attractive sycamore drinks trays but more items to come.

Bottle kilns in The Potteries have been in decline for many years and now fewer than 50 remain. This bud vase endeavours to interpret and evoke the memory of these functional pieces of vernacular architecture.

Full description

A bud vase turned in Ash. The insert is glass and removable. The piece has been given a durable lacquer finish and finally a hard wax has been applied to give a satin sheen. A complementary vase is also available as the photograph shows.
